Linda ran away from the Orphange and started living on the streets. She would go to school on fridays and hide money in her brother Bills locker. Bill later joined the Army and was sent away. In the meantime, Linda started working for Tom and Imogene Rose in a bar they owned in Dayton, Ohio. This would become the begining of a wonderful life for her. The Rose's took Linda in and gave her a home. In this time, Linda met a handsome construction worker named Donald Lee Walker, whom she would spend the next 42 years of her life with.
